FAQ
Is the Global 5000 able to use smaller airports?
It is certified for steep approaches, so it can serve challenging airports, London City among them, which combines a short runway with a steep descent. It needs around 1,690 m to take off and about 670 m to land, varying with weight and weather. That brings airports such as Sion within reach, but very short strips such as Gstaad (Saanen) are beyond its limits.
Which is better for my trip, the Global 5000 or the Dassault Falcon 7X?
Both are large-cabin jets built for long distances. The Global 5000 seats 13 in its standard layout and the Falcon 7X seats 14. The Falcon also flies further, about 5,950 nautical miles against 5,200, and it can use short runways, Gstaad (Saanen) included, that are closed to the Global 5000. The right choice depends on your route and party size.
Where does the Global 5000 sit among Bombardier's larger Global jets?
The Global 6000 followed the 5000, adding range to about 6,000 nautical miles along with newer avionics and interior updates. The Global 7500 (originally named the Global 7000) is larger again, with four cabin zones and 7,700 nautical miles of range, enough for New York to Hong Kong. Bombardier's Global 8000 keeps a similar cabin to the 7500 and extends range to about 8,000 nautical miles. For charter, the Global 5000 covers most intercontinental trips, while its successors suit missions that need more distance or a larger cabin.
How far can a Global 5000 fly before it needs fuel?
Its range with IFR reserves is 5,200 nautical miles (9,630 km). Munich and New York, or London and Delhi, are within a single leg, and most intercontinental routes can be flown without a fuel stop. On the longest sectors, passenger numbers and winds decide whether a stop is needed, and your advisor will confirm this when quoting.
