History
The Citation Encore+ is the second version of the Citation Encore. Cessna announced the first Encore in 1998 and began building it in 2000. Its Pratt & Whitney PW535 engines gave it a clear performance advantage over the Citations that preceded it, and the Encore+ built on that base.
To create the Encore+, Cessna drew on customer feedback and on its experience of the original Encore in service. The result kept the same proven airframe but brought updated systems and further performance gains. It flies on two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW535B engines.
The first Encore was built from 2000 to 2006, and the Encore+ took over from 2006 until 2011. It is part of the Citation family, which by 2022 had passed 8,000 deliveries and 41 million flight hours, making it the biggest fleet of business jets anywhere.

FAQ
Should I choose a Citation Encore or a Citation CJ3?
The CJ3 is the lighter aircraft and is more economical on fuel. Its cabin is a little shorter, and it has 1,740 nm of range. The Encore is built heavier, has more powerful engines and performs better on takeoff. Clients often choose the CJ3 to keep running costs down, and the Encore when they want a more solid feel and extra space in the cabin.
How many seats does the Citation Encore+ have, and how does the cabin feel?
Seven is the standard, in a club group plus forward-facing seats, and up to eight can fit. Lighting is indirect and the wall panels are smooth, which helps the cabin feel open. A refreshment centre, a private washroom and optional entertainment add to the comfort on business or leisure trips.
How far can the Citation Encore+ fly?
Its range with IFR reserves is 1,672 nm (3,097 km), so it can fly London to Marrakech or Paris to Athens without refuelling. The actual figure on the day depends on the number of passengers, the weather and the cruising altitude.
How does the Encore relate to the other Citations?
The Encore is a light jet developed from the Citation Ultra, with better engines and more baggage room. Within the Citation range it falls between the CJ1 and CJ2 at the entry level and the midsize Citation Excel and XLS.
What does the Encore offer over the Citation Ultra?
Its Pratt & Whitney PW535 engines perform better and cost less to run than the Ultra's, and the hold takes more luggage. The Ultra is still economical on short flights, but the Encore carries that efficiency onto longer routes, which makes it the more flexible of the two for a varied schedule.
