History
Embraer unveiled the aircraft at the 2000 Farnborough Airshow under the name Legacy 2000, later changing it to Legacy 600. It was a business version of the ERJ 135 regional airliner, which gave it airline systems and an existing maintenance network from the start. The first example flew in 2001, and the type was on sale to private clients by 2002.
The airliner origins show in the size of the aircraft. The cabin is 12.92 m long and 2.08 m wide, with 13 seats in a standard layout, and the baggage compartment takes 6.8 cubic metres, large for its class. Two Rolls-Royce AE 3007 turbofans give a cruise speed of 455 kts and 3,250 nm of range with IFR reserves.
The Legacy 600 showed that Embraer's approach of adapting a regional airliner for business use could work. It filled a gap in the company's business jet range, competed directly in the large-cabin category and laid the groundwork for Embraer's later expansion in business aviation. Production continued until 2013.

FAQ
Which flies further, the Legacy 600 or the Legacy 650?
The Legacy 650. It is rated for 3,900 nm (7,223 km), about 650 nm more than the Legacy 600's 3,250 nm (6,019 km). On routes near the limit of the 600, that margin can remove a fuel stop. For trips comfortably inside 3,250 nm, the Legacy 600 covers the distance without difficulty.
What is the seating capacity of the Legacy 600?
Thirteen in its standard layout and 14 at most. The cabin is arranged in three distinct seating areas and measures 12.92 m long, 2.08 m wide and 1.83 m high, so there is room for a group to spread out, work or rest on a longer sector.
How fast does the Legacy 600 fly?
Typical cruise is 455 kts (843 km/h), with a long-range cruise speed of 424 kts and a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.80. That is competitive for a large jet and well matched to flights between European cities, as well as longer intercontinental sectors.
Which routes can the Legacy 600 fly non-stop?
With 3,250 nm (6,019 km) of range under IFR reserves, it can fly London to Dubai or New York to London without a fuel stop. Actual range depends on passenger numbers, baggage and weather, so our advisors confirm the figure for each itinerary before quoting.
Why is the Legacy 600's baggage space worth knowing about?
Its baggage compartment is the largest in its category, at 6.8 cubic metres, with room for 20 suitcases and 12 carry-on bags. Passengers can reach it from the cabin during the flight. Together with steep-approach certification, which opens up more demanding airports, that makes the Legacy 600 a practical choice for groups travelling with plenty of luggage.
