History
The G450 began as an improved GIV-SP. Gulfstream started work on it in 2001 under the name GIV-X, aiming for better avionics and performance than its predecessor. The aircraft first flew on 30 April 2003, which opened a full flight test programme, and it received its FAA type certificate on 12 August 2004. It then replaced the G400 in Gulfstream's range.
EASA type certification and an FAA production certificate followed in November 2004, and the first aircraft reached customers in May 2005. Two Rolls-Royce Tay Mk 611-8C turbofans power the G450, and the flight deck uses Gulfstream's PlaneView avionics. The cabin is 13.75 m long and 1.90 m high, with 14 seats in a standard layout and up to 19 in a maximum one.
Gulfstream built the G450 until 2018. When the last aircraft was handed over on 19 January 2018, 365 had been delivered, and the G500 took its place in the line-up. The G450 bridged the gap between Gulfstream's older GIV generation and the newer family that followed it.

FAQ
Does the G450 fly further than the G350?
Yes, by roughly 550 nm. The G450 is rated for 4,350 nm (8,056 km) with IFR reserves, while the G350 manages 3,800 nm (7,038 km). The two have similar cabins and speeds, so the choice usually comes down to whether a route needs the extra distance, since the G450 costs more to operate. On longer sectors, that margin can remove a fuel stop.
What is the seating capacity of the G450, and how is the cabin arranged?
Fourteen in a standard layout, with a maximum of 19. The cabin is usually split into three seating areas, so passengers can work at the front, dine in the middle and rest towards the back. There is stand-up headroom of 1.90 m throughout, and the galley supports full catering on longer flights.
How fast does the G450 cruise?
Typical cruise is 476 kts (882 km/h), with a long-range cruise speed of 459 kts and a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.88. That puts it among the quicker aircraft in its category. The speed comes from two Rolls-Royce Tay 611-8C turbofans, which also take it to a service ceiling of 45,000 ft.
Which routes can the G450 fly non-stop?
With 4,350 nm (8,056 km) of range, the G450 can link Geneva and New York, or London and Dubai, without a technical stop. That suits travellers moving between major business centres on different continents. Passenger numbers, baggage and winds will determine the exact limit for a particular flight, and our advisors confirm it when they plan your trip.
Is the G450 still built, and how long was it in production?
Gulfstream delivered the G450 from 2005 to 2018, and 365 left the factory before the G500 replaced it. It succeeded the GIV and GIV-SP, bringing newer avionics and better performance to a proven Gulfstream design. A fleet of that size, with established support worldwide, means charter clients can find well-maintained aircraft.
