History
The Hawker 4000 was the company's first aircraft in the super midsize class and its flagship business jet. Its fuselage is built from carbon fibre and other composite materials, chosen to save weight and improve structural efficiency, and it was designed to take on established rivals in a growing part of the market. Production ran from 2008 to 2013.
Two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW308A engines gave it better performance and fuel efficiency than older designs, while the Honeywell Primus Epic flight deck and a roomy cabin suited it to transcontinental work. Even so, the aircraft struggled commercially, and it remained Hawker's main attempt at the super midsize market before Textron eventually acquired the company.

FAQ
Can the Hawker 4000 match the Citation X for speed?
No. The Citation X cruises at 514 knots (952 km/h), against 470 knots (870 km/h) for the Hawker 4000. On range the two are almost level: the Hawker is rated for 5,741 km and the Citation X for about 5,762 km. The speed gap saves the most time on longer sectors. The Hawker's maximum operating speed is Mach 0.84, and its service ceiling is 45,000 feet.
How many passengers fit in a Hawker 4000?
The standard layout seats eight in two club-four groupings. High-density layouts take up to 14, at the cost of personal space and baggage room. The cabin is 7.62 metres long, 1.98 metres wide and 1.83 metres high, and seven large windows per side let in plenty of daylight.
How far can the Hawker 4000 fly nonstop?
With IFR reserves it covers 3,100 nautical miles (5,741 km), so Paris to Dubai and London to New York are both possible without a fuel stop. For positioning flights without passengers, the ferry range extends to 3,283 nautical miles (6,080 km).
What does the composite fuselage mean for passengers?
The carbon-fibre fuselage, rare among jets in this class, keeps weight down without losing strength. That helps the climb, as reaching 41,000 feet takes less than 19 minutes, and it improves fuel efficiency. The baggage compartment is pressurised and reachable during flight. The construction also raised manufacturing costs, which hurt sales before production ended in 2013.
