History

The Hawker 800 series covers the 800A, the 800B and the 800XP, each a further step in the development of the same midsize business jet. The 800A was the starting point, the 800B brought improved systems, and the 800XP raised performance. Each version built on what operators and customers had learned from the one before, and the series made Hawker's name in a competitive part of the market.

All three use two turbofan engines, Honeywell TFE731-5R units, and a comfortable cabin sized for medium range trips. Their reliable performance and running costs made them popular with company flight departments as well as charter operators. Production ran from 1984 to 2005, and Hawker delivered hundreds of aircraft around the world in that time.

FAQ

What separates the Hawker 800A, 800B and 800XP?

The 800A established the twin turbofan design and the cabin that the whole series kept. The 800B added improved systems and greater reliability based on operator feedback. The 800XP is the most capable of the three, with upgraded engines, refined aerodynamics, better climb performance and a maximum range of about 4,850 km, making it the version to choose for more demanding trips.

How is a Hawker 800 cabin laid out?

All three versions usually seat eight: a club group of four, a three-seat divan and one more forward-facing seat. The cabin is 6.48 m long, 1.83 m wide and 1.75 m high, and the aircraft can take up to 10 passengers in a denser layout. There is room for six suitcases and seven pieces of hand luggage.

How fast does the Hawker 800 cruise?

The 800A and 800B cruise at 447 knots (828 km/h), and the 800XP is marginally quicker at 449 knots (831 km/h), thanks to its upgraded engines and aerodynamic changes. The maximum operating speed for the series is Mach 0.8, and crews can fly a long range cruise of 402 knots to save fuel. With a ceiling of 41,000 ft, the Hawker 800 keeps pace with other midsize jets.

How far can a Hawker 800 fly?

With IFR reserves, the series is rated at 2,390 nm (4,426 km). The 800XP reaches about 4,850 km at its maximum, a little more than the 800A and 800B. That is enough for a coast to coast flight such as New York to Los Angeles in one leg, and for most trips within Europe.
