History
The Hawker 850XP is a development of the Hawker 800 series, and the XP in its name stands for extra performance. It kept the proven airframe of the 800 family and addressed the performance limits operators had identified, with improved engines, updated systems and a cabin refreshed in response to customer feedback.
The more powerful Honeywell TFE731-5BR engines gave better climb performance and a higher cruise speed, now 448 kts (830 km/h), along with more range and more flexibility on payload. Range with IFR reserves is 2,642 nm (4,893 km). The flight deck was updated with Collins Pro Line 21 avionics.
Built from 2006 to 2009, the 850XP was one of the last versions of the Hawker 800 line. It retained the low running costs for which the Hawker family was known among midsize jets, and the type's long production heritage means maintenance support is widely available.

FAQ
What is the seating layout of the Hawker 850XP?
Eight seats in the standard configuration, with up to 14 in a high-density layout. The cabin is 6.5 m long, 1.83 m wide and 1.83 m high, so most passengers can stand upright, and it is larger than many rival midsize cabins. Baggage space is 1.42 cubic metres, enough for about six suitcases and seven carry-on bags.
What sets the Hawker 850XP apart from other midsize jets?
Its cabin is the main draw: wider and taller than competitors like the Citation Sovereign or the Gulfstream G150, with standing headroom throughout, and it comes with competitive operating costs. The 850XP also descends from the DH-125, one of the best-selling designs in business aviation, so it has a long record of reliability and a wide maintenance network behind it.
How fast does the Hawker 850XP cruise?
The 850XP cruises at 448 kts (830 km/h), with a long-range cruise speed of 402 kts and a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.80. Its upgraded engines and aerodynamic changes made it quicker than the standard Hawker 800, while keeping the economical running costs that corporate operators have long valued in the Hawker family.
How far can the Hawker 850XP fly?
With IFR reserves the 850XP covers 2,642 nm (4,893 km), enough to fly New York to Denver non-stop, and its ferry range is 3,118 nm (5,775 km). That is a clear gain over earlier versions of the Hawker 800, giving operators a wider choice of routes.
Is the 850XP quicker than the original Hawker 800?
Slightly. The 850XP cruises at 448 kts (830 km/h), against 447 kts (828 km/h) for the standard Hawker 800. The bigger difference is in climb performance, where the improved engines give the XP more margin and more operational flexibility. It was one of the final versions of the Hawker 800 line before production ended.
